A few years ago, i came across one of the most resourceful websites for Information Security Professionals: The Top 100 Network Security Tools.
 
First in the list is Nessus, the swiss army knife for Network Security Professionals.
Nessus is available for a free download and is one of the top Vulnerability assessment toolkits available out there on the market.
 
If you love scanning your systems for vulnerabilities and open ports (and you must love it to be in this business 😉 ), this is a must-have tool, which comes integrated with the venerable NMAP port scanner. In fact, you can perform full TCP-Connect Scans or stealth scans; just pick your preference.
